Joe Posnanski: LXXXVIII lines on Super Bowl XLIV

The Super Bowl X factor: How Dwight Freeney affects Colts
It’s the $64 million X-factor of Super Bowl week. How will defensive end Dwight Freeney’s right ankle affect the outcome? “It’s a question of how efficient can you be if you’re 50, 60 or 70%?” Indianapolis Colts defensive line coach John Teerlinck said, taking in a few rays on a sun-splashed patio at the team’s hotel this week. “No one will know until it happens.”

Joe Posnanski: LXXXVIII lines about XLIV Super Bowl
One of the things about getting older is you get used to things. I’m not saying jaded. I’m a big believer that you have to try very hard in life to not get jaded. But you do get used to things. Take the Super Bowl. This is my 13th Super Bowl. I’ve had one more Super Bowl than wedding anniversary. Whatever that means.

    Super Bowl XLIV party preppin’

Super Bowl XLIV in Miami against the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints is a few days away. For many, that means party time, and planning such an affair can take several days and cost a lot of money. The Lampros family won a 40-inch flatscreen TV, courtesy of Fox Toledo. Brandon Lampros won the Hardcore Challenge, FOX Toledo’s version of game picks. Because he was the big winner, his friends said he’s hosting the party this Sunday. Unfortunately his wife Angel is stuck doing most of the work. They plan to have between 30-50 guests. The Lampros family have two more big screen tvs ready for the game as well as party balloons, confetti, plates, napkins, plastic silverware, and drinks – and that’s just for starters. They’ve already spent several hundred dollars on the affair, and aren’t done yet. The menu? Let’s just say nobody will leave hungry. Angel has a couple of more items on her list, and then she’s done. It should be a lot of fun Sunday evening. They sent out invitations, and FOX Toledo News will be there. You can see how their party turned out Sunday evening 10:30 pm on The Rychnovsky Recap.
