    Divan Sheets & Linen – A History

Bed sheets perceptibly are coverings which are placed on beds. They initially were made of fairly rough material sometimes hand woven from the fibers on hand.

    History

A sprei murah wasn’t necessarily the thing of beauty it has become today with the wonderful variety of fabrics, colors and designs to choose from. A bed sheet might be a simple square of flannel in a plain color, and rather than being washable, it might simply be aired out or hung on the clothesline periodically. The more wealthy people tended to choose bed sheets of more closely woven fabrics, and Egyptian cotton bed sheets were chosen as well as the more exotic bed sheets of silk or satin. Among the more wealthy people, washing the bed sheets became more common, so durability was important. Egyptian cotton bed sheets were more capable to stand up to laundering and became the bed covering of choice.

As technology advanced and more man made fabrics became available, brighter colors and more variety in the composition of the jual sprei became common. Matching sets of comforters bed sheets and pillow coverings were originality items at first, then almost must-haves. Sofa bed sheets and comforters bed sheets became commonplace Christmas and wedding gifts. The bed coverings could be matched to the room décor and the colors of the carpet to create a unified look.

    Hospital bed sheet

Because of the awareness of germs and need for reducing or preferably eliminating infectious diseases in the hospital setting, a hospital bed sheet has a need for great durability. They are laundered after each usage, and so must stand up to strong detergents and bleaches to protect against further disease. They are a size which fits most rest home beds and are almost always white in color. They tend to be a heavier weave than wholesale bed sheets which have a lower thread per inch count. Some businesses which have need of many sets of bed cover online, such as hotels, motels and dormitories will choose comprehensive bed sheets just as an economization factor. Although the initial price is lower, discount bed sheets may not hold up as well, so there may not be a true cost savings.

    Sofa Bed sheet

Now you can invite overnight guests even when you don’t have a spare bedroom. You easily pull out the sofa bed and make it up with a striking sofa bed sheet set and your guest will feel comfortable and at home as well. A sofa bed sheet set can be attractive and functional, yet still be available at a discount bed sheets marketplace. Sofa bed sheets are available in standard sizes, and they can be just as attractive as those you place on your regular beds.

With the availability of shopping online, you can certainly choose bed sheets which match or contrast with any color style or décor you can imagine. The bed sheets can actually make the bed the focal point of the room, and it’s not necessary to spend a fortune to company your bed to suit your likes and dislikes.

If walls are white, do white bamboo blinds.
I like the woolrich [ 3rd one ] the best, if it matches the other reds.
Add a metal, such as brass or pewter in lamps, picture frames, ornaments. [ I suggest people use the same neutral for all picture frames; such as black/white, oak/walnut,
or brass/pewter on all frames, so you can re-arrange or move to other rooms. ]

I think this is going to look good, curtains I would keep a plain material in black or white or red depending on the colour of the walls. I would keep my accents of one kind, pick a theme say natural elements and things like stone, marble bamboo, plants etc. Wall art is going to take some looking for but go with your instincts I would keep the animal print to the rug only as a nice accent. Hope this helps and I’m sure your room is going to be something to be proud of

Neither. Try doing warm taupe walls with Black accents (Black Roman Blinds, Black Iron Decorations, your black furniture) and then that zebra rug, with classy, not cheesy leopard print pillows on the sofa. It’s romantic, classy, yet fun with the animal prints. Creates a soothing atmosphere.

Are Bamboo Blinds Practical Around The House?

Hi Bamboo is a great natural, eco friendly product. It is well suited to high humidity areas such as the bathroom and kitchen. Bamboo blinds are easy to maintain and have become a popular choice. Hope this helps.

Bamboo is a great product and I am glad it is making a such a impact lately from floors to clothing, to just about everything. I think that the bamboo would do great in the bathroom and in the kitchen. It is durable, eco-friendly, pretty easy to find anywhere, inexpensive, and can add an earth element to any room. Will do good in higher humidity areas such as the bathroom or kitchen, very easy to clean and come in a variety of colors and has different spacing so you can decide on how much light to let in or how much privacy you want, i think i have even found it made into the cloth covered blinds and shades somewhere if you want cloth version. Very versatile and efficient. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to go with it! Plenty of place on the web to look up bamboo, try “decorating with bamboo” and see if it helps. Good luck!

How Do You Clean Bamboo Blinds?

I can see loads of dust in the blinds, but don’t know how to clean them, as the bamboo sticks are very close together.

I vaccuum the dust off with the hose attachment. Once a year I give them a soak in diluted murphy’s oil soap, & hang over the porch rail to drip dry.

    • Clare 12:41 pm on January 21, 2010 Permalink | Reply

If you dust them with a feather duster every week, they won’t get so dirty and will be easy to keep clean. They probably have grime on them as well as dust, so a feather duster won’t work very good. Here’s how to give them a thorough cleaning:
      Step 1:
Fill up a bathtub with hot water and mix in a little oil soap, such as Murphy Oil Soap. Any good quality oil soap will help you get rid of dirt, cobwebs, most stains and eliminate bad odor from the bamboo blinds.
      Step 2:
Immerse the blind in the tub in a bundled form and shuffle the blind a few times to ensure that the soapy water reaches everywhere. Clean one blind at a time.
      Step 3:
Let the blind sit in the tub for a couple of minutes. Then take the blind out of the tub and set it aside.
      Step 4:
Drain the bathtub and rinse it so that the dirt and grime is washed away.
      Step 5:
Repeat the process if the blind still appears dirty. If not, fill up the tub with hot water and rinse the blind repeatedly to remove the soap. Use the shower spray to accelerate this process.
      Step 6:
Do this for all the bamboo blinds in your house.
      Step 7:
Take the blinds to a sunny place, such as a terrace, garden or backyard. Hang them up to air dry for at least for 20 minutes.
      Step 8:
Ensure that the blinds are completely dry before hanging them back on your windows.
Once, that’s done, remember to dust them every week so they stay clean and you don’t have to go through all that again! ☺

Hm, that sounds a bit ambitious, but try target or Ikea.
If both do not work, ask your contractor.
My mom wants a bamboo spiral staircase in her bedroom to lead up to a walk-in closet, so she’s asking the contractor.

What Would Look Better, Bamboo Or Wood Blinds?

They would be for the living room. The couches are color chocolate, so are the center and side tables (just a little darker). The wood blinds would be the same color as the couches. The bamboo blinds would be a dark beige, with chocolate color designs, those would match the couches.
By the way, there are two window in the living room, one big one and one smaller.
What do you think? Which ones do you think would look better?

I think the bamboo blinds because you don’t want the room to be to dark. Add alittle contrast.

I have been looking at new homes recently and they have the 2″ wood blinds in them and I have fallen in love with them. They block out light real well and look very nice. The bamboo blinds seem easy to fray, not as clean looking as wood blinds. Good Luck

I say go for the one that does not match the other colors to closely.. you want people to notice the blinds… but at the same time.. you don’t want window covers that say “look at me” in a bad, gawdy.. ugly way…

bamboo would look better, plus they are from a renewable source which is more friendly to the environment.

    • bambamm_ 8:17 am on January 21, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I think that the bamboo would be more visually interesting, and not too matchy-matchy with the couches.
It depends, though, on the overall look you’re going for. If your look is “country”, then bamboo would just be weird! If you’re going for a contemporary (Pottery Barn-esque) look or an Asian-influenced “zen retreat” feel, then I think bamboo blinds would definitely be the best fit. ;)

I would have the bamboo blinds. The dark beige would break the chocolate colour from the couches, yet with the designs makes it match. Bamboo might be more expensive but if so, definitely worth it! Hope it goes well!
